On May 20th, 2019, scientists will make a trip in the JOIDES Resolution under the Earth’s most powerful ocean current. The Earth’s most powerful ocean current is called the Antarctic Circumpolar Current. It circles clockwise around the continent of Antarctica and plays a huge role in regulating the Earth’s climate. Though we still do not know much about it. But scientists are trying to change that. A mission will be held on May 20th that will help scientists understand how the current will react to climate change. The mission will be lead by 30 scientists from 13 different countries. This expedition will help us understand the sea-air exchange much better because so much oxygen is exchanged between the atmosphere and the ocean that if more data is found, we will be able to do much more like making forecast prediction be much more accurate.
